Becky’s Fourth Movie Review: “Going the Distance”

“Going the Distance” is a romantic comedy starring Justin Long and Drew Barrymore. I had never heard of it before, but Adam was looking into movies that Justin Long has done and he found this title. We decided to check it out. The basic premise for the story is that these two people, Garrett and Erin meet in New York City and have what they both expect to be a fling. Erin is actually from San Francisco, CA and only in New York for a summer internship. After six weeks together, Erin and Garrett realize that they are crazy about each other and decide to make a go at a long distance relationship. Erin in California and Garrett in New York.

The movie is full of clever one-liners that make you laugh out loud. “Going the Distance” also has an exceptional cast including Christina Applegate as Erin’s sister, Jim Gaffigan as Erin’s brother-in-law, Jason Sudeikis as one of Garrett’s best friends and Charlie Day as Garrett’s other best friend and roommate. “Going the Distance” was very cute. The nice thing about this movie is that it focused more on the comedy aspect rather than forcing the romance down the audience’s throat. While I love a good chick flick, it is always nice to find romantic comedies that I can convince Adam to watch.

Would I recommend this movie? Yes, it is a very cute movie…well done and nicely paced. I think that both men and women alike would enjoy this movie. I’d give it three and a half stars out of five.
